Mars In Cancer
The voyage of Mars through Cancer gives us the opportunity to blend the fiery planet’s initiative with Cancerian concerns for preservation. We’ll want to spend this time carefully building things that honor and acknowledge our connection to the past and to family values. Our urge to move forward during this time doesn’t cut us off from familiar patterns, but includes them, to make for a more gentle and comfortable step into the future.
It’s true that Mars is toned down when it moves through sensitive Cancer, but that doesn’t mean we won’t get anything done. If we learn how to work with the Mars-in-Cancer energy, a great deal can be accomplished. Digging into domestic tasks is one of the best ways to use this transit. Mars in Cancer is a great opportunity to get out your hammer and nails so you can start (or finish) a home improvement project.
You may also feel a greater need to fight for the rights of a family member or a domestic situation during this time. Even though Mars in Cancer prefers using its energy to nurture, it will ultimately do whatever it takes to defend what and whom it cares about. As a result, you may notice that an intensely protective instinct takes over your actions when Mars and Cancer sync up.
The problem with Mars’ transit though cautious Cancer is that rather than taking a direct approach to going after what we want, we take a more passive one. If we don’t feel emotionally connected to something, it’s unlikely we’ll take action. Unfortunately, the action we do take is usually ruled by the heart, and may be more reactive and oversensitive than purposeful.

This First Quarter Moon is a prime time to initiate those plans that have been simmering in your replicator.
Now, remember when the Doctor forgot to update his program and started giving everyone the wrong medical advice? Well, don't be like the Doctor. This phase is all about growth and action, so make sure you're not stuck in an outdated routine. It’s time to boldly go where no Cancer has gone before!
In the spirit of intergalactic exploration, don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone. Try a holodeck program you've never even considered before. You might find you love Klingon opera or Vulcan chess. Be open to the unfamiliar - you never know what new skills you might discover.
And finally, remember when Neelix tried to cook with leola root and almost blew up the kitchen? Avoid impulse decisions that could lead to similar, metaphorical explosions in your life. Don't rush into things without a solid plan. Or, as we say in Starfleet, always keep your phasers set to stun, not kill.
